Governor’s Budget includes $400,000 for Safe and Supportive Schools

The budget signed by the Governor on July 8, 2016 includes funding for Safe and Supportive Schools at $400,000, which allots funding for DESE to hire a full time staff person devoted to carrying out the provisions set forth in the law. The language provides for continuation of the Safe and Supportive Schools grant program as well as statewide and regional conferences, expert technological assistance in upgrading the usability of the online self-assessment tool and an evaluation of the grant program.

This critical funding of the Safe and Supportive School line item is a remarkable accomplishment. The work of building safe and supportive school environments for all students in Massachusetts is moving forward! Thanks to all of you for your support.
