American Federation of Teachers-MA Says Safe and Supportive Schools Help All Students

AFT Massachusetts represents 25,000 educators, school support personnel, faculty and staff at public and private colleges and universities, municipal librarians and health care professionals across the state.

The American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts recently voiced its support for Safe and Supportive Schools and highlighted the importance of implementing the Safe and Supportive Schools statute, enacted by the Massachusetts legislature last summer.  Angela Cristiani, of the Boston Teacher’s Union who represents the American Federation of Teachers Massachusetts on the newly established Safe and Supportive Schools Commission, underscored the importance of the law to all students across Massachusetts: “The goal is that all schools across the Commonwealth will be safe and supported. It recognizes that children need support and that schools need to be healthy and safe learning environments that allow children to develop healthy relationships and to regulate their emotions and behaviors so they can achieve academic and non-academic success in school while maintaining physical and psychological health and well being.”
